Claire Arrowsmith began her career with an Honours Degree in Zoology from the University of Aberdeen after growing up in the Highlands of Scotland. A lifestyle brimming with family pets of all shapes and sizes, working sheepdogs and farming livestock provided her with a love and understanding of animals. After travelling abroad and working on projects involving Koala Bears and Sleepy Lizards in Australia, she studied for her Masters of Science Degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare at the University of Edinburgh. She has conducted research into methods of predicting future aggression in rescue dogs, the findings of which she has presented in Boston and at the 'Companion Animal Behaviour Study Therapy Group 2000' seminar in Birmingham. Claire has worked for the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and provided behavioural consultations for dogs around the Edinburgh and Glasgow areas. She then joined the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as their Post Placement Training Instructor, where she travelled throughout the U.K. providing behavioural advice and training for recipients and their Hearing Dogs. Claire achieved her Deaf Awareness BSL Stage 1 (CACDP). Claire keeps up to date with new techniques and research by attending many seminars and by being involved with several behaviour and training organisations. She has appeared on a new range of DVDs providing expert advice regarding working with your new puppy/dog. She has also featured on Talk Sport radio during their expert hour.
Claire provides consultations for canine and feline problems and is currently writing her first books on the subject. She is also on the behavioural expert panel for Your Dog magazine, the UK's best selling dog magazine. |
